Overview
In epoxy systems benzyl alcohol lowers viscosity and speeds curing, and it is a key solvent in paint strippers and inks. Its low volatility and mild odour make it useful where slow drying is wanted.
It is also a preservative and fragrance component in cosmetics and an excipient in injectable medicines, supplied in technical, cosmetic and pharmacopoeia grades.
