Overview
Reactive dyes carry a reactive group that chemically bonds to the hydroxyl groups of cellulose under alkaline conditions. Once fixed, the dye is part of the fibre, giving bright shades with very high wash fastness — the reason reactive dyes are the leading dye class for cotton garments.
Ranges differ by reactive group and the temperature at which they fix. Cold brand dyes react at 30–40 °C. ME (medium exhaust) bifunctional dyes work around 60 °C with high fixation. HE (high exhaust) dyes are applied around 80 °C with excellent reproducibility in deep shades. H (hot brand) dyes are mainly used in printing. Unfixed, hydrolysed dye must be washed off thoroughly.
Applications
- 1Exhaust dyeing of cotton knits and wovens
- 2Cold pad-batch dyeing
- 3Continuous pad-steam dyeing
- 4Direct printing on cotton and viscose
- 5Viscose, linen and modal fibres
Packing & storage
Packing
- 25 kg fibre drums with PE liner
- 25 kg cartons
- Sample packs for lab dips
Storage & handling
Keep sealed in a cool, dry place. Reactive dyes slowly hydrolyse if exposed to moisture.

Questions
Reactive Dyes, answered.
ME (medium exhaust) dyes suit general exhaust dyeing of cotton around 60 °C with high fixation. HE (high exhaust) dyes are preferred for deep shades and reproducibility around 80 °C. H (hot brand) dyes are mainly used for printing. Cold brand dyes fix at 30–40 °C and suit small batches and cold pad-batch.
Some reactive dye reacts with water instead of the fibre. This hydrolysed dye is not bonded, so if it is not washed out thoroughly it bleeds in laundering and reduces wash and wet-rub fastness.
Yes. A lab dip is produced against your swatch or digital standard for approval, and every production batch is released against the approved standard for strength and shade.
