Magnesium Oxide
Magnesium oxide is used as a pH buffer and filtrate stabiliser in drilling fluids, as a refractory, a feed and fertiliser magnesium source, and in rubber and pharmaceuticals.
- Grades / forms
- Light & dead-burned
Overview
In oilfield fluids, MgO buffers pH and improves the thermal stability of polymer muds. Light-burned grades are reactive and used in chemicals, feed and fertilisers; dead-burned grades are used in refractories.
It is supplied as a white powder in grades defined by reactivity, purity and particle size.
Applications
- 1Drilling fluid pH buffer
- 2Refractories and steel industry
- 3Animal feed and fertiliser magnesium
- 4Rubber and adhesive curing
- 5Antacid and pharmaceutical grades
Packing & storage
Packing
- 25 kg & 50 kg bags
- 1000 kg jumbo bags
Storage & handling
Store dry in closed bags; it slowly absorbs moisture and carbon dioxide.
