Overview
Cetostearyl alcohol builds body and creaminess in emulsions and works with cationic surfactants to form the gel network that gives conditioners their texture. It is also an emollient and co-emulsifier.
It is supplied as white flakes or pastilles, typically in 30:70 or 50:50 cetyl:stearyl ratios, from palm or coconut sources.
