Overview
CTAC's positive charge binds to the negatively charged surface of damaged hair, smoothing the cuticle, reducing static and improving wet combing. It is the workhorse cationic in rinse-off conditioners and masks, usually with fatty alcohols.
It is supplied as a ~30% aqueous solution and also acts as an emulsifier and antimicrobial.
