Overview
In mining, copper sulphate activates sphalerite (zinc sulphide) so that collectors can float it. In agriculture it supplies copper to deficient soils and animals, and it is the base of Bordeaux mixture fungicide.
In water it controls algae in reservoirs and ponds at low doses. It is supplied as blue crystals or powder of about 25% copper, in technical, feed and fertiliser grades.
