Overview
DMDM hydantoin protects water-based products against bacteria and, with a partner, fungi. It is a formaldehyde-releasing preservative, so its use level is limited and labelling rules apply in many markets.
It is supplied as a ~55% aqueous solution, often blended with IPBC for broader protection.
