Overview
EDTA binds calcium, magnesium, iron and other metal ions into stable, water-soluble complexes. That prevents scale, stops metals catalysing unwanted reactions and keeps formulations clear and stable.
It is supplied as the free acid and as disodium and tetrasodium salts, as powders or solutions. Tetrasodium EDTA is the usual choice for alkaline cleaners and water treatment; disodium EDTA for personal care and food-adjacent uses.
