Overview
Isothiazolinones are effective against bacteria, yeasts and moulds at parts-per-million levels. The 3:1 CMIT/MIT blend is widely used in detergents, paints, adhesives and water-based industrial products.
Because they are skin sensitisers, cosmetics use is restricted to low levels in rinse-off products in many markets. Supplied as ~1.5% and ~14% solutions.
